Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Takes a Loss

Santa Fe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the La Porte Bulldogs, falling 81-47. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 165th).

Santa Fe's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaidan Mata, who went 6 for 13 en route to 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Crable, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 10-18. As for La Porte, they pushed their record up to 20-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Santa Fe will host Friendswood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Fe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season. As for La Porte, they will head out on the road to square off against Angleton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Porte knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Angleton likes a good challenge.
