Basketball Recap: Holcomb Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Holcomb put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past the Bucklin Red Aces with a 55-49 victory. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Red Aces are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Bucklin still got an impressive performance from Emmy Kirk, who posted 24 points. Kirk has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Isabel Bowman was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Holcomb's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Bucklin, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Holcomb wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 44-35 victory against Larned on the 14th. As for Bucklin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-55 loss against Hoisington on the 14th.
