Softball Game Preview: Mount St. Mary Academy Lions vs. Bound Brook Crusaders

For the second straight game, Mount St. Mary Academy will face off against Bound Brook. The Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mount St. Mary Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Bound Brook's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mount St. Mary Academy blew Bound Brook out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Bound Brook got their revenge. The Lions fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 5-3. That makes it the first time this season the Lions have let down their home crowd.

For Bound Brook's part, Lili Caprara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. Caprara has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rachael Gurczeski, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Isabella Marusiak also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Bound Brook's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-8. As for Mount St. Mary Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
