Volleyball Recap: Appleton East Comes Up Short

Appleton East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Barneveld Eagles. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Appleton East came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 26-24, 15-12.

Ryley Foley paced Appleton East's offense, picking up 11 kills. Foley got some help from Addison Kiekhaefer and her 16 assists. Zoe Wockenfus controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Appleton East's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Barneveld, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Appleton East wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Sturgeon Bay on the 13th. As for Barneveld, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Marshfield on the 13th.
