The Viewmont Vikings will square off against the Clearfield Falcons at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewmont is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Viewmont earned a 47-36 win over Bonneville. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly 11 points.
Mara Mickelson was her usual excellent self, going 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Carr, who posted seven points and six boards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clearfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-33 victory over Box Elder on Friday. The Falcons pushed the score to 46-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bees cut but never quite recovered from.
Viewmont better keep an eye on Isabelle Wyaskett. She was instrumental in Clearfield's win, going 5 for 9 on her way to 16 points and eight steals. That's the most steals Wyaskett has posted since back in February of 2024. Brighton Bernards was another key player, putting up three points and five steals.
Clearfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Box Elder only racked up four assists.
Viewmont is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Clearfield, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Viewmont has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Viewmont might still be hurting after the 65-42 defeat they got from Clearfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wyaskett, who went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Now that Viewmont knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
