Recap: Holmes Huskies vs. Taft Raiders
The Holmes Huskies had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Taft with a 65-61 victory on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Amare Guerra continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Holmes' points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Martinez, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Holmes' victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Taft, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Holmes will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brennan at 6:00 p.m. Brennan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully Holmes likes a good challenge. As for Taft, they will head out on the road to face off against Jay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Jay's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Taft has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
