Volleyball Recap: Swansboro Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Swansboro was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Havelock on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates came up short against the Croatan Cougars on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered since October 22, 2024.

While Swansboro ultimately came up short, they really made Croatan work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-17, 25-20.

Swansboro's loss came despite strong showings from Maddie Staley and Aislinn Mandel. Staley had five digs and two aces, while Mandel had eight digs.

Swansboro's defeat ended a seven-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-3. As for Croatan, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Swansboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Croatan, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against West Carteret on the 15th.
