Basketball Game Preview: Pueblo East Eagles vs. Pueblo South Colts

Pueblo East is 2-8 against Pueblo South since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pueblo East Eagles will face off against the Pueblo South Colts at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pueblo East is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Pueblo Centennial for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-28 win. The Eagles pushed the score to 72-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Pueblo South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 64-56 to Pueblo Central.

The victory was the third in a row for Pueblo East, bringing their record for this year to 10-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Pueblo South, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Pueblo East was taken down by Pueblo South 72-43 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Pueblo East, Maurice Austin (who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
