Baseball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Clay County Christian Academy

Victory Christian Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Clay County Christian Academy by a score of 9-7 on Monday.

Raygen Langley and Carter Chatman were huge no matter where they played even without the win. On the mound, Langley struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Chatman tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Langley scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Chatman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Wyatt Bowman and Steven Groff stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bowman scored a run and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Groff scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Bowman is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

Victory Christian Academy has already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Southern Prep Academy on the 28th. As for Clay County Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 defeat against Hope Christian Academy on the 1st.
