Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Valley Vista

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Ridge). They blew past the Valley Vista Monsoon 15-3 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Joe Forbes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mountain Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). EJ Johnson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Forbes wasn't the only one making solid contact: Mountain Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Mountain Lions are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Mountain Ridge and bumps their season record up to 8-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Valley Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Mountain Ridge will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Pinnacle at 3:45 p.m. As for Valley Vista, they will head out to square off against West Point at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
