Basketball Recap: Menifee County's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Menifee County and Russell squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Menifee County had to settle for second. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Russell Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 44-39 back in January.

Russell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bethany Allen led the charge by shooting 58% from the field en route to 18 points. That's the most points Allen has posted since back in December of 2024. Kennedy Darnell was another key player, putting up 16 points and eight boards.

Menifee County moved to 20-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Russell, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 25-7.

Menifee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Russell, they have already played their next match, a 72-42 defeat against Blazer on the 8th.
