On Tuesday Jorge Vasquez struck out eight batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. The performance also marked the fewest walks (two) Vasquez has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with more than five strikeouts. On the season, he has an ERA of 2.19 over 38.3 innings pitched.

Even though Vasquez couldn't lead Rio Grande City over Mission, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sadly, Vasquez's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Rattlers' three-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Vasquez and the Rattlers surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Thursday's match.
