Basketball Game Preview: Excel Christian Academy Eagles vs. Trion Bulldogs

The Excel Christian Academy Eagles will take on the Trion Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Excel Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Excel Christian Academy breezed past Oakwood Christian to the tune of 76-31. Excel Christian Academy hasn't had any issues with Oakwood Christian recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Karden Wingard was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 67% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of DaMir McBride, who posted six points along with seven steals and five assists.

Excel Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Trion's game on Saturday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pepperell, sneaking past 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Dragons since December 14, 2015.

Excel Christian Academy's record now sits at 8-3. As for Trion, their record is now 5-3.

Excel Christian Academy came up short against Trion in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 61-49. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
