Baseball Game Preview: ABF Academy Homestead Bandits vs. Providence Day Chargers

The ABF Academy Homestead Bandits will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Providence Day Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. ABF Academy Homestead is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, ABF Academy Homestead didn't have quite enough to beat Miami Beach and fell 3-2.

Kyle De Haseth was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.

Meanwhile, Providence Day has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging four runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They came up short against Gaston Christian, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Chargers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Providence Day saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Ward, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Ward has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

ABF Academy Homestead's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Providence Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
