Recap: Legacy Lightning vs. Fossil Ridge SaberCats
The Legacy Lightning were the 39-34 winner over the Fossil Ridge SaberCats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Legacy suffered a rough 60-36 defeat at the hands of Fossil Ridge on Saturday. Legacy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Legacy still got an impressive performance from Olivia Mortensen, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 61.1% of Legacy's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Izabella Milner, who scored five points along with two steals.
Natalie Lin went supernova for Fossil Ridge, scoring 22 points along with six assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Lin scored 15 or more points. Lauren Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Legacy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.
Legacy will head out on the road to face off against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. As for Fossil Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Range at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fossil Ridge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
