Rancho Cotate had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 13-12 to make it six. They lost 10-1 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. Surprisingly, this marked the Cougars' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Rancho Cotate saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Morie, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Cardinal Newman, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Cardinal Newman's side, Josh Jannicelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Jannicelli also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Cardinals are 9-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Owen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Bromstad was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Rancho Cotate does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Newman, they are taking a road trip to face off against Windsor at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
