Softball Recap: Sweetwater Wins Going Away Against Southwest SD

Sweetwater won the last time they faced Southwest SD and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Devils blew past the Raiders 16-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Devils.

Tatyana Mosqueda made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Layla Silva was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Romero, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and one double.

Sweetwater hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest SD struck out eight times.

Sweetwater's record now sits at 13-2-1. As for Southwest SD, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

The future could be bright for both Sweetwater and Southwest SD: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Red Devils will try to hand Castle Park their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Southwest SD will look to extend Hilltop's three-game losing streak when they meet at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
