Softball Recap: River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats vs. Eastland Cougars
It was a good run, but River Ridge/Scales Mound unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 10-6 to the Eastland Cougars. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

Elizabeth Rife was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.
