Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission East Falls to St. James Academy in First Game of Season

Shawnee Mission East unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 58-44 bruising from the St. James Academy Thunder on Tuesday. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunder apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

St. James Academy's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-0.

Shawnee Mission East will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lawrence on December 20th. As for St. James Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Washburn Rural at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
