Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Florida Christian King's vs. Evangelical Christian Sentinels

The Southwest Florida Christian King will challenge the Evangelical Christian Sentinels at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Southwest Florida Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand The Classical Academy of Sarasota a 15-0 shutout. The King's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Evangelical Christian got the win against Gulf Coast H on Monday by a conclusive 11-1.

Anthony Cabrera made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cabrera was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Boston Gibbs looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ryder Lutz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Evangelical Christian is undefeated when Lutz posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-14 otherwise. Gavin Teeter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Evangelical Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory snapped Southwest Florida Christian's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-10 record. As for Evangelical Christian, their record is now 12-14.

Southwest Florida Christian skirted past Evangelical Christian 6-5 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the King's since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
