Football Game Preview: Lamar County Trojans vs. McNair Mustangs

Lamar County is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the McNair Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Lamar County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Friday, Lamar County beat Westside 27-14.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lamar County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ross Hamrick, who rushed for 29 yards and a pair of scores.

Lamar County's run defense was locked in: Westside could only muster -0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Josiah Chambers for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lamar County's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.

Lamar County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joshua McDade and Kenyae Barnes.

Meanwhile, McNair came up short against Putnam County on Friday, falling 28-6. The Mustangs gained 121 more yards on the day, but it was the War Eagles that made the best use of them.

Lamar County's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for McNair, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Lamar County skirted past McNair 19-16 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
