Softball Game Preview: Honey Grove Warriors vs. Pottsboro Cardinals

The Honey Grove Warriors will square off against the Pottsboro Cardinals at 11:50 a.m. on Thursday.

If Honey Grove beats Pottsboro with 11 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Honey Grove blew past Sam Rayburn 11-5 on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, neither Pottsboro nor Anna could gain the upper hand on Saturday so the two teams had to settle for a 7-7 tie.

Honey Grove pushed their record up to 4-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs over those games. Pottsboro's draw gives them a new season record of 2-3-1.

Honey Grove was able to grind out a solid victory over Pottsboro in their previous matchup back in March of 2020, winning 4-0. Will Honey Grove repeat their success, or does Pottsboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
