Softball Recap: Richmond Oilers vs. De Anza Dons
Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 17-0 to the De Anza Dons. While getting shut out isn't ideal, Richmond has not been shut out since back in March.
For De Anza's part, Mya Arroyo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Arroyo has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive pitching appearances. Arroyo was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Riana Everetts and Giselle Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Everetts went 2-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI, while Taylor scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Everetts has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Emily Garcia was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Richmond's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for De Anza, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
