Softball Recap: Marist Now 22-1 over Last 23 Games

Marist was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Saint Ignatius College Prep on Friday. The RedHawks were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Wolfpack. Considering the RedHawks have won 24 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 22 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-19.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marist will host Pontiac at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the RedHawks have won 25 straight at home dating back to last season, while the Indians won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they will welcome Lincoln Park at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
