Meanwhile, Fayette Academy won against Millington Central on Thursday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Fayette Academy beat Millington Central by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-4. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Hayden Fly was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harris Armour, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Jordan Walker also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
The win was the fourth in a row for Fayette Academy, bringing their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for St. Benedict at Auburndale, their record now sits at 2-4.
St. Benedict at Auburndale came up short against Fayette Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can St. Benedict at Auburndale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
