Basketball Recap: Downtown Doral Comes Up Short

Downtown Doral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines, falling 69-49. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 115th).

When it comes to explaining why Downtown Doral lost, don't look at Juan Castro. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 18 en route to 25 points and five boards.

Belen Jesuit was led to victory by Orlando Roche and Alec Arnholt. Roche went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points, while Arnholt posted nine points and six steals. That's the most steals Arnholt has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Misiunas, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Downtown Doral's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Belen Jesuit, they pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

Downtown Doral didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-22 victory against Academy for Innovative Education on the 30th. As for Belen Jesuit, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-55 win against Bishop Verot on the 28th.
