Football Recap: Belleville West Maroons vs. East St. Louis Flyers
Friday just wasn't the day for Belleville West's offense. They were dealt a 67-0 defeat at the hands of the East St. Louis Flyers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Flyers are ranked first).
East St. Louis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myson Johnson-Cook, who rushed for 111 yards and one TD on only six carries. Johnson-Cook really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Ahmad Coleman also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Belleville West now has a losing record of 2-3. As for East St. Louis, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
