The Crossett Eagles will challenge the Monticello Billies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crossett's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Watson Chapel. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Rylee Meeks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Crossett let Braelyn Campbell and Zoey Jones run wild. Campbell scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Jones scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Addisyn McKenzie was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Crossett hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Monticello got the win against Warren on Tuesday by a conclusive 20-9.
Like Crossett, Monticello also got a great game from a two-way player: Alaina Lyle. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Lyle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libby Kingston, who scored four runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Bliss Becker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-6.
Monticello is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Crossett, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Crossett suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Monticello in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
