Football Recap: Scranton Comes Up Short

Scranton extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were dealt a 49-19 loss at the hands of the Delaware Valley Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while the Warriors are ranked 196th).

As for Delaware Valley, the win got them back to even at 5-5. Considering they have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Delaware Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Estevez, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Estevez a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another back making a difference was Michael Iuzzolino, who rushed for 56 yards and two TDs on only six carries.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Scranton will square off against Williamsport at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. As for Delaware Valley, they will take on Pittston at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Patriots will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
