Basketball Preview: Jackson Jaguars vs. Tri-Cities Bulldogs

Jackson is 4-0 against the Bulldogs since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Jackson Jaguars will be playing at home against the Tri-Cities Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Jackson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 19 matches.

Even though Creekside scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, Jackson still came out on top. Jackson took their match against the Seminoles 66-58. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Seminoles are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taliah Cornish led the charge by going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cornish has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Shakira Gresham, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Tri-Cities didn't have too much trouble with the Wildcats at home on Saturday as they won 58-41.

Jackson's win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38.4 points. As for Tri-Cities, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Jackson against the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 87-47 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Tri-Cities' Paris Shelton, who scored 23 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Jackson still be able to contain Shelton? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
