Valley Center hadn't done well against San Dieguito Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Jaguars won by a run and slipped past the Mustangs 1-0. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 9-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Valley Center saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Subish, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Valley Center has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for San Dieguito Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Valley Center will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
