Basketball Recap: Paul VI Panthers vs. Bishop Ireton Cardinals
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Paul VI can now relate to. They fell 58-51 to the Bishop Ireton Cardinals on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-51 back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Ireton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nyla Brooks, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. What's more, Brooks posted three blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Theresa Hagans JR was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.
Paul VI's defeat dropped their record down to 22-10. As for Bishop Ireton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.
