Camden Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Lincoln Academy by a score of 4-1. The Windjammers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Carter Campbell was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That run was his first of the season. Brian Leonard was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Belfast ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Oceanside 5-4.
The team relied heavily on Odelyn Simon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Littlefield, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Belfast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Camden Hills' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Belfast, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Camden Hills has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Belfast struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
