Basketball Recap: Midland Trail Takes Down Liberty in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Midland Trail had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Liberty Raiders 49-47. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 56-34 win back in February.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Midland Trail to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thad Brown, who posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Camryn Thomas was another key player, putting up ten points.

Liberty's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liam Daniels, who went 8-for-19 en route to 21 points along with six boards and three steals. The game was Daniels' fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Parker Hodges, who scored 11 points.

The win made it two in a row for Midland Trail and bumps their season record up to 13-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points over those games. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Midland Trail will challenge WestSide at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. WestSide is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
