Basketball Recap: Mallard Creek Takes a Loss

Mallard Creek fought the good fight in their overtime game against McDowell on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 65-57 to the Titans. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 15-2 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Mallard Creek still got an impressive performance from Ahmad Savage, who posted six rebounds and three steals.

McDowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dredon Lytle led the charge by putting up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Rae Garner, who had 17 points.

Mallard Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for McDowell, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mallard Creek will take on Hickory Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McDowell, they will face off against North Buncombe at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
