Baseball Game Preview: Western Reserve Roughriders vs. Plymouth Big Red

For the second straight game, Western Reserve will face off against Plymouth. The Roughriders are taking a road trip to square off against the Big Red at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Reserve's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Tuesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Plymouth hit Western Reserve with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Roughriders took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Red.

For Plymouth's part, Jarrett Burrer and Bobby Bowman made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Burrer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Bowman tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Burrer went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Bowman went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Plymouth is 4-1 when Burrer posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Colton Hass was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keegan Beverly, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Western Reserve's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Plymouth, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-8.
