Baseball Recap: Village Christian Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Village Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Northwood Temple Academy Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Knights have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Eli Guinn was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Village Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Joseph Randolph was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Village Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood Temple Academy only posted a batting average of .143.

Village Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Village Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against American Leadership Academy-Johnston on the 9th. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they will host Fayetteville Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
