Recap: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Wilson Wildcats
The Claremont Wolfpack struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Thursday (the Wilson Wildcats were 20% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Claremont had to suffer through a rough 62-33 loss at the hands of Wilson. Claremont has not had much luck with Wilson recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Claremont saw an underclassman step up: Yonael (Yona) Banko scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Banko hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xiao Hong (Tony) Wang, who scored 2 points along with 9 rebounds.
Wilson found their leader in underclassman Justin Kayode, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Kayode has scored at least 25% of Wilson's points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Lin, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Claremont now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Wilson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.
Claremont's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jurupa Valley at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. Jurupa Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Wilson, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Walnut at 6:30 p.m. Walnut presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wilson in California (Walnut is ranked 205th, while Wilson is ranked 803rd).
