Basketball Recap: Higley Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Higley unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 73-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Desert Vista Thunder. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Knights still had to take the loss.

Higley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Gloor, who went 9 of 20 en route to 22 points and six assists. Gloor is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Donovan Dabney, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Higley's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Desert Vista, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Higley will venture away from home to face off against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Higley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Sunnyside likes a good challenge. As for Desert Vista, they will head out to square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Desert Vista surely won't give up without a fight.
