Soccer Game Preview: Dougherty Valley vs. Granada

The Dougherty Valley Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Granada Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dougherty Valley is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Dougherty Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Livermore and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, Dougherty Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 701st, while Livermore are ranked 207th).

Humza Sultan and Nathan Alfa scored both of Dougherty Valley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Meanwhile, Granada gave up the first goal on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a goal and slipped past California 3-2. That's two games straight that Granada have won by just one goal.

Granada has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 8-2-1 record this season. As for Dougherty Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Everything went Dougherty Valley's way against Granada in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, as Dougherty Valley made off with a 5-2 victory. In that matchup, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 4-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
