Basketball Recap: Jael Haynes-Lee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hamilton Township over Circleville

While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Hamilton Township was not quite Circleville's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Circleville Tigers by a score of 44-42. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Tigers are ranked 52nd).

Hamilton Township lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jael Haynes-Lee, who posted 11 points and five assists. Haynes-Lee is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Juliana McLaughlin was another key player, putting up seven points.

Hamilton Township's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Circleville, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Hamilton Township didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-36 defeat against Fairfield Union on the 25th. Circleville has also already played their next contest (against Gallia Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
