Basketball Game Preview: Ascent Classical Academy Guardians vs. Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels

The Ascent Classical Academy Guardians will head out on the road to challenge the Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jack Colberg, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Hutchins, who went 5 for 10 to rack up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Golden View Classical Academy waltzed into their match on Saturday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Highlanders by a score of 60-47. Given the Sentinels' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Highlanders are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Golden View Classical Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points over those games. As for Ascent Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Ascent Classical Academy was dealt a bruising 67-15 defeat at the hands of Golden View Classical Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Thankfully for Ascent Classical Academy, Jakob Gonzales (who went 7 of 10 en route to 19 points in addition to seven assists and five steals) won't be suiting up this time.
