Soccer Game Preview: Western Branch vs. Deep Run

The Western Branch Bruins will face off against the Deep Run Wildcats on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Western Branch comes in on 11 and Deep Run on 12.

Western Branch is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They won by a goal and slipped past Glen Allen 3-2.

Meanwhile, Deep Run faced Grassfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 7-1 win. Deep Run might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by three goals or more this season.

Deep Run's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 62 goals over those 11 games. As for Western Branch, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

Western Branch might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Deep Run in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
