The Mount Tabor Spartans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Calvary Day School Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mount Tabor is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Atkins. Mount Tabor blew past Atkins 13-3 on Wednesday.
Jah'Quez Braboy and Charlie Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Braboy tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Young pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. At bat, Braboy scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Young scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, James Price and Charlie Gallimore did most of the damage at the plate: Price scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Gallimore scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Price a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was David Thiel, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Calvary Day School never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 20-0 margin over GRACE Christian. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won five in a row.
Anthony Hill looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Calvary Day School let Matthew Harrell and Rex Steward run wild. Harrell went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Steward went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Gerlach, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Calvary Day School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as GRACE Christian only posted an OBP of .238.
Mount Tabor came out on top in a nail-biter against Calvary Day School in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, sneaking past 5-4. Will Mount Tabor repeat their success, or does Calvary Day School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
