Basketball Recap: Kirbyville Takes a Loss

Kirbyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Orangefield Bobcats 84-31. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1494th, while the Bobcats are ranked 429th).

It was another big night for Jaden Scales, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight assists and four steals for Orangefield. Those eight assists gave Scales a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Kirbyville's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Orangefield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

Kirbyville will be playing in front of their home fans against Warren at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kirbyville is facing Warren at the right time seeing as Warren is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Orangefield, they are taking a road trip to face off against East Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Chambers is on a four-game streak of home wins, Orangefield a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
