Softball Game Preview: McClatchy Lions vs. Nevada Union Miners

The McClatchy Lions will head out to square off against the Nevada Union Miners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClatchy has three straight victories, Nevada Union has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

McClatchy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Cordova get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Maia Jacobs was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ciara Arias, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Jacobs wasn't the only one working in the home run department: McClatchy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Nevada Union didn't have quite enough to beat Twelve Bridges on Thursday and fell 10-8.

Nevada Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9-1. As for McClatchy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
