Basketball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 56-19 loss at the hands of the Watseka Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Warriors are ranked 83rd).

Centennial has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Watseka, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Centennial will be taking part in a tournament against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Watseka, they will head out to square off against St. Joseph-Ogden at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
