Colin Riekofsky was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Smethport is 6-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Riekofsky was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Riekofsky wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Hungiville, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Camryn Young was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Smethport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cameron County didn't have quite enough to beat Otto-Eldred on Monday and fell 9-7. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their meetings with the Terrors: they've now lost three in a row.
Smethport's record now sits at 7-5. As for Cameron County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
Cameron County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Smethport has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. It's a different story for Cameron County, though, as they've only averaged .354. Will they be able to contain Smethport's hitters?
Smethport came out on top in a nail-biter against Cameron County in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hubbers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
