Baseball Recap: Lancaster Triumphs

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Lancaster nor West Seneca West made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Legends sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Warhawks. That's more bragging rights for the Legends, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lancaster got a great performance from Ryan Szychowski as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Szychowski a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Moberg, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Brady Majchrowicz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lancaster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for West Seneca West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Lancaster will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warhawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
