Basketball Recap: Skyline Takes a Loss

Skyline lost against Mesa back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Skyline Coyotes had to suffer through a 68-38 loss at the hands of the Mesa Jackrabbits. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Jackrabbits are ranked 22nd).

Mesa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jarren Galarza led the charge by going 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. That's the most boards Galarza has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jakyi Miles, who went 6 for 13 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Skyline is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15. As for Mesa, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Skyline has already played their next contest (against Westwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-51 win against Cibola on the 23rd.
